Assembly Decoration

The default foliage tool: place pre-rigged library assemblies onto the skeleton by trait matching, preserving instancing and posing each piece without re-running the simulation.

The Assembly Decoration is the default tool for foliage placement and the most mature decoration in Natsura. It places library instances at points on the skeleton, working with pre-rigged hierarchies rather than static meshes.

  • Point-based placement at tips, intersections, internodes, or custom groups.
  • Selection by trait matching: each assembly in the library carries trait values (height, angle, age, health), and so does the tree's geometry; placement matches them up. See Traits.
  • Instancing preserved, with per-position pose variation through rig-level effectors. See Foliage & Instancing.
  • All shaping lives on the decoration, so iterating on foliage does not re-run the simulation.

The Classify gizmo is the interactive surface for assigning traits. The design history that produced the assembly decoration, and the move from the cluster decoration as the default, is documented in From the Cluster Decoration to the Assembly Decoration.

For the node parameters, see Assembly Decoration.
