Extend Natsura

Natsura is built to be opened up and extended. Author your own decorations, write custom effectors and wrangles, define custom maps, and compose your own tools out of the core verbs.

Natsura is built to be opened up. The core verbs, the mapping framework, the effectors, and the decoration layer are surfaces you build on top of, not closed boxes. This section is for technical artists and pipeline developers who want to go past the shipped nodes and make the toolkit do something it doesn't do out of the box.

It is the most technical part of the documentation. It assumes you are comfortable in Houdini and VEX, and with the way Natsura defers and compiles its graphs (see Simulation for that model). If you are still learning the core ideas, start with Core Concepts first and come back here when the shipped nodes stop being enough.

Ways to extend

Build Your Own Decorations

Author a custom meshing process on top of Core Decoration.

VEX

Custom effectors, wrangles, and maps: the VEX-based extension points.

Make Your Own Tools

Wrap recipes of core verbs into reusable nodes and HDAs.
