Pivot Edit

Interactive state for manually placing pivots on input assembly geometry when auto-rigging fails. Inner utility of the Assembly Resource.

Pivot Edit hosts the edit-pivots interactive viewport state. When auto-rigging fails because pivots are not at the base of branches, buds, or leaves, this node provides manual pivot placement so the next cook can rig the assembly correctly. Inner utility of the Assembly Resource wrapper; can also be placed at the top level for granular workflows.

Modes / States

  • Edit pivots. Press Enter to enter the interactive state. Click each instance and move its pivot to the base of its attachment, then exit; the corrected pivots are stored on the node. Cook again and auto-rigging should succeed.

Notes

  • Auto-rigging in Build Assembly Rig uses a lightweight pivot lookup: it expects each instance's pivot to sit at the base of where the instance attaches to its parent. When the source geometry doesn't carry pivots in that position (a common case for assemblies imported from other DCCs that put pivots at the geometric centre), auto-rigging produces a mis-rigged result. Pivot Edit is the fix.
